Be sure all equipment and clothing is labeled with your name. Engraving or permanent marker works best.

Personal Camping Equipment

  • rain gear
  • flashlight with extra batteries and bulb
  • 1 extra pair of pants (2 recommended)
  • 2 extra shirts (3 recommended)
  • sweatshirt or warm jacket
  • hat
  • socks
  • underwear
  • sleeping attire
  • sleeping bag
  • sleeping pad of some form
  • backpack or duffle bag
  • spoon, fork, knife
  • cup (non-glass)
  • plate and bowl (non-glass)
  • soap, wash cloth, towel, toothbrush and toothpaste, deodorant, other personal hygiene items as necessary
  • compass
  • Boy Scout handbook
  • Boy Scout shirt (class A and class B)
  • medicines or other medical devices (must be checked in with an adult leader in attendance at campout)
  • water bottle
  • personal first aid kit (adhesive bandages, small roll of adhesive tape, latex gloves, moleskin for blisters, quarters and dimes for emergency calls, sterile gauze pads, antiseptic cream, triangular bandage, mouth barrier device)
  • 25' of thin strong cord
  • anything else appropriate for the season or camping trip you may need (stocking hat, gloves, jacket, boots, long johns, swim suit/towel, water sox, toilet paper, day pack)

  • Coleman lantern and extra mantels

  • U.S. flag, troop flag
  • appropriate cooking equipment (stoves, kettles, cooking utensils) and fuel
  • cleanup materials (dish pans, soap, bleach, trash bags, scouring pads)

Summer Camp Equipment

Boy Supplied
  • personal camp chair (no lounge chairs)
  • mosquito netting and rope for hanging
  • bug juice (pump version only, NO spray bottles or cans)
  • sunscreen, chapstick
  • stamps, paper, envelopes
  • notebook and pencil for merit badges
  • water bottle
  • plastic tub with tight fitting lid instead of a backpack works well for the Tomahawk week (it should fit under the cot) suggested style - Rubbermaid Roughneck, 18 gallon size (approx. $5.00)
  • 1-12 pack soda pop per scout
  • money for trading post snacks and souvenirs from camp

What Not To Bring Camping (PARENTS WATCH WHAT'S IN YOUR SON'S PACK

  • matches or lighters (available from a leader when needed)
  • alcohol, tobacco, or drugs
  • firearms
  • fireworks
  • lasers or pointers
  • boom boxes
  • aerosol cans (only pump sprays, sticks or lotion allowed)
  • electronic entertainment devices (radios, cd players, walkie talkies, handheld televisions) - may only be used during trip to and from event and will remain in the vehicle during event

    Drivers are NOT responsible for any scout's electronic equipment.

  • large quantities of candy/pop
  • NO sheath knives and no knives with more than a 4" blade
